WELCOME TO SUE DUCKWORTH'S WEB PAGE
Hello, I am Susan Dodge Duckworth. Although I love to knit, I am not the famous Susan Duckworth. My grandmother taught me the craft when I was seven-years-old, and I've kept the needles clicking ever since. Currently, along with many other knitters from faith communities, I am working on prayer shawls. The shawls are made only to be given away to those needing their compassionate warmth.
My husband Jed and I live in beautiful New Hampshire, USA. We have two grown children. Jason is married to Kellee and they live near us. Our daughter Robin works at the Congregational Archives and Library in Boston. In 2004 Robin and I went on a fabulous tour of England, Scotland, and northern Wales with other members of the Dodge family from the US and the UK. Pictures will follow here at a later date.
I am the "air traffic controller" for the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Concord, New Hampshire. I have been taking care of the many non-clergy duties of the church for more than eight years. One of the hats I wear is that of web steward.
In 2001 I graduated with a bachelor's degree in literature from the College for Lifelong Learning (now Granite State College) of the University System of New Hampshire. I tell people I was on the thirty year plan since I completed my first two undergraduate years following high school at the University of New Hampshire. Then I spent the years 1996 to 2001 completing the last two. I found adult learning extremely fulfilling and urge anyone to follow his/her passion without considering age.
When I am not working or knitting, I enjoy reading good, substantive books. I belong to a book group that meets monthly at Gibson's Bookstore in Concord. Each year we read at least one of Shakespeare's plays and a variety of poems during April, poetry month. We are always looking for interesting suggestions as we plan our readings twice a year.
We are looking for Duckworths with ancestor in or around Providence, Rhode Island. My husband's father was Everett Mitchell Duckworth; his father, Thomas John Duckworth.
